Faith & Life Lessons - October 3, 2021

Welcome to the October 3rd edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

My church had its first physical meeting since the COVID virus.

You probably wonder why.

Well, it's one of the uniqueness of being in a predominantly non-secular country without strong Christian leanings and finding a location to meet is in itself a challenge.

We were able to eventually find a place that fits us.

I joined the church less than a year ago and it was the first time I was meeting so many people.

The only people I had met were members of my community group.

There is nothing like a church in one place and everyone singing in unison.

It is so beautiful.

Thank God for the fellowship of the saints.

Things I Learnt

1- Keep Following what you Heard: I was invited to speak at an event in a different country on Saturday.

Thank God for technology, I didn't need to travel. Everything was on zoom.

While speaking with the event organizer to get a better understanding of their event and what they expected from me, he said he had been watching my live videos and that formed the basis for their invitation.

I was impressed.

I recall God telling me to focus more on live videos.

And it seems that it's given people a way to discover the message I share.

A reminder that God knows how He wants His message to be heard and found.

Not only His message.

Also how we make the most difference in life.

We do that by following what we have heard.

No matter how unusual it may sometimes sound.

2-A Bond Created in Mutual Learning: Between 2019 and 2021, I was part of a mentoring group.

The mentorship was put together by a husband and wife team. The wife mentors ladies while the husband mentors guys.

I first met the wife. She came to preach at our church and the intimacy with Jesus that she showed drew me to her.

After service, I went straight to her and asked if she would mentor. She responded that she doesn't mentor men. Her husband, who is also her mentor, does that.

And that was the beginning.

On Saturday, we had a reunion of ladies and guys who had passed through their mentorship.

It was a wonderful meeting.

The beauty of it all was when we talked about life after the end of our mentorship.

Hearing everybody speak was like getting a refresher class. Being around people that are learning helps us learn new things.

We also got to talk about our personal lives. And we got support and ideas from everyone else.

I need to keep this up.

Build more learning communities for me.

Postscript

May you experience the peace of God in every challenging situation you find yourself in. May courage fill your heart so you can respond rightly at all times. Amen
