Welcome to the May 12 edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
It was a very busy week.
A combination of different areas requiring my attention.
At work, on my book (especially as I get closer to the finish line) and on family matters - different important decisions to be made.
It means I have to remind myself that God has not called me into a stressful and overwhelming life.
There are decisions I have to make, decisions I have to push to others and decisions I just have to ignore.
Yes, the best choice for some decisions is not to make any decisions and let the situation work itself out.
I don't have the capacity to make a decision on all the things that come to me.
I just have the capacity to make a decision on the most important decisions I need to take.
And that is what I will continue doing.
Things I Learnt
1-A Relevant Message for the Times: You already know I'm writing a book.
Writing a book is a solo sport, but to make it successful, it must be owned by more than one person.
It is one of the reasons I reached out to over one hundred people to be part of my book review board.
They are more than a review board. They are my marketing testing group.
I have gotten feedback.
Some of the feedback has meant that I have to rewrite some sections of the book or add new information to provide further tools to help people.
The collective feedback is that this book has a relevant message for its target audience.
More than that, it provides them the tools to win at work and in life.
The main thing that I always aim for.
It's no longer just my book. It's now our book.
2-Opportunities Always Abound: No matter how difficult the global economy is showing itself, opportunities always show up.
If we can take advantage of them.
But I see one thing at play in the opportunities: they come from relationships built and sustained over the years.
At work, we are working with a partner on an initiative. We only have our foot in the door due to the relationships we have built as an organization.
Someone told me he was speaking to a potential partner for my book.
I had sent him a preview copy of my book.
Additionally, I had asked him to share it with the other person for him to review.
After he read it, he thought it was worth more than just a review from the person. He felt the book was an excellent opportunity for a partnership between me and the person.
So, he asked the person before he even mentioned it to me.
The person expressed willingness to meet and discuss with me when he returns to the country.
And that's when my contact gave me the feedback.
My contact is someone I have had a multi-decade relationship with. It is an opportunity he created for me.
An opportunity purely out of a longstanding relationship.
Take care of your relationships.
They may be the ones to bring you some new opportunities you need during this new season.
Postscript
May you have the discipline to nurture the relationships you build every day. Amen
