Faith & Life Lessons – October 13, 2024

image

Welcome to the October 13th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

A new world of possibilities opened for me.

Why?

Because I took responsibility for seeing things get better for the people around me.

Not something I didn't know about.

But living through it is a thrilling experience.

When we take responsibility for making things better for the people around us, we open ourselves to a new world of opportunities.

Opportunities to be more than we ever thought we could be.

Opportunities to serve God in the way He has called us into.

I am living in that season.

Things I Learnt

1 - No Unfortunate Happenings: I have become fully convinced that no “bad” happenings happen to me.

I just have unexpected happenings that bring me closer to the best of who I can be, deliver and live up to in every situation.

During a training I was having on Saturday, my main computer went to sleep unexpectedly.

It was a Zoom training so I was off class.

I had a backup laptop which I had set up earlier. I had to get on Zoom on it and continue the class.

After getting on Zoom, I needed some time to get on the training platform.

This changed the initial plan for the training.

The initial plan was I complete a session, the class break up to discuss the case study, they come back to discuss the case study and then I do coaching and answering questions on the session.

Because I was still trying to log into the learning platform, I moved into coaching and taking questions before the case study.

It turned out to be a better flow for the class. This happened during the first session.

For other sessions, I just adopted this new format.

No unfortunate happenings, just unexpected happenings that bring me closer to a better outcome.

2 - The Ability to be Less: One of the abilities I constantly need to tap into is making people get used to me taking the background.

This is true at work where everyone wants a piece of you If they think you have a reputation for delivering results.

Well, the only thing is that I prefer to give more people as many opportunities as needed to get them to the front.

That is why I say no so I can selectively say yes to the things that I bring the most value to.

I bring value to a lot of things.

But in the order of conflicting opportunities, I want to commit myself to the things that I can bring the most value.

I choose to be less for a lot so I can be more for the most important few.

Postscript

May you be wise to know you have to say Yes to only the few important things in life to make the most impact. Amen
