Welcome to the July 31st edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
I had two different career stories this week.
In one case, the guy said he wanted more transaction variety.
In the other case, the lady said she was taking a break from work. She was leaving her job without another job in place.
She wanted the rest.
No matter how things roll, most of us will get to experience these feelings in our careers.
So, what did I do when I faced mine?
I listened to God and did the not-so-logical option.
The option was to stay on the job I was on.
Because I knew it was what God wanted for me.
And I ended up in situations that addressed what I wanted without fighting for it.
Interestingly, they both came with the job moving me to a new country.
All planned and structured by God.
But built up by years of creating a good on-the-job reputation.
The present orchestrated by God but defined by a faithful past at work.
May you build a past that creates a platform for God to work out His present promises. Amen
Things I Learnt
1-Professional & Personal: One of the effects of a post-COVID is that everyone is now comfortable with doing business virtually.
Video calls and conference calls are the new future.
As much as I like that, I am still an old-school adherent that deals move faster when parties can meet face-to-face.
I am currently working on a funding transaction for one of my projects.
I have only met the counter-party via online conference call.
I felt that was affecting the interpersonal bridge that could move the transaction faster.
Fortunately, I knew someone else in that institution. He was able to get me the contact of the main person we were dealing.
He was also open to meeting with us.
It was not a negotiating meeting - just a friendly visit.
While talking, we found out we had a few things in common.
We were no longer names on an email or voices on a conference call.
We were now persons with faces and interests that we knew.
I think it's a better platform to move the transaction forward.
2-The Blessing of Fellowship: I am part of a paid training program for Christians with a focus on business. As part of the program, we are broken into smaller groups where we meet weekly to share ideas and encourage one another.
The meeting is one of the high points of my week as it offers me a fellowship of believers in different parts of the world who show up to let you know they have your back.
This week was rather touching.
At a point, our team leader asked everyone to speak over me.
It's empowering when people speak God's word over me in a way that reflects the image of Himself that God forming in me.
Postscript
May you find the people God has surrounded you with who can speak God's word over you - the word that reflects the image of Himself that He is forming in you. Amen
