Faith & Life Lessons - January 7, 2024

Welcome to the January 7th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

An Action Week.

The first week of the new year.

It’s just another week on my road to hitting what I am aiming for.

Why?

Because I started the journey during the previous month.

I didn’t wait for the clock to strike Jan 1st before running my race.

My race is mapped into just 3 goals for the 12 months.

But my eye is not on that.

I have 3 goals that I am aiming for over the next 90 days.

3 goals in 90 days that add up to the 3 goals in 360 days.

Did I tell you that the 3 goals in 360 days also add up to my 10-year vision?

But I am not just chasing 3 goals in 90 days, I will be working with 3 goals in 14 days that add up to 3 goals in 90 days which add up to 3 goals in 360 days.

Q.E.D.

However, I am not delusional to think that my strategies are the only tools for success.

I am committed to spiritually discerning what God wants for me per time.

The goals may change but the bigger dream will not change.

The dream of living a life that fully honours God.

In everything. In every way.

Things I Learnt

1 - Always Look for a Better Way: One of the tasks that I set out to close out was up for the week.

The problem was that I didn’t see myself moving as fast as I could on it.

Until an idea hit me.

I could get someone who could do it for me quicker.

And at a fraction of the cost.

And that’s what I did.

The person got back to me with the results in a few hours.

Good output. I made some edits.

Then another thought hit me.

Who in my network can review it and give me great feedback on it?

I reached out to someone on Saturday. He did that and called to give me his feedback.

On Sunday, someone else came to mind.

I sent it to her - she will revert later in the new week.

I am getting better results by not doing it myself.

By leveraging relationships and finding people who can compress time for me.

Yes, this is one thing I will be doing this year as I aim for my goals.

Finding ways to do things in a way that compresses time.

It’s great to have relationships that I have invested in over time who can come to help me.

And when I have to pay, I am glad they deliver more value than what I have to pay.

2 - How Much I Have Become: I was taking a training last week and during the training, I realised something - how much I have become.

Why?

Because most of what the facilitator was teaching was not foreign to me.

The breath and depth of experience of the facilitator were not in doubt.

This showed very much by the wealth of examples he was able to share. They made for a richer learning experience.

But the principles that he taught were already a part of me.

And yes, I had lived some of them on a different level.

His examples raised the perception of what could be possible.

In my life.

And in the lives of the people I work with.

It’s when you hang out with people who are ahead that you realise how much you have become.

I realised how much I have become by being part of the training.

Now I have to live up to all I have become.

And teach others to live up to more than they have become.

Postscript

May you be inspired to live more than you are into all you can become. And may all these bring more glory & honour to Jesus. Amen.
