Welcome to the August 29th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.
The Story of My Week
The week ended with a piece of news that was a jolt to the system.
One of the guys we had done our undergraduate studies passed on due to complications resulting from COVID.
This was a pain to the gut as he was someone I knew very well.
We hadn’t been in touch recently. His death was still close enough to hit home.
I can only appeal to everyone who is holding back on taking the vaccine to get off the fence and take it.
In addition, we still need to maintain the safety protocols of using the masks, hand sanitary practices, and social distancing where necessary.
God watches over His own.
But He expects us to be wise as serpents.
And this is one of those situations we can live wisely in.
May God continue to keep you and your family
Things I Learnt
1-Trust God for Your Plans: At the start of the month, with the challenges in the business I am leading, I committed to the staff members that we would work to put some actions in place to show the company’s commitment to their welfare.
The Company is not completely out of the woods but the month is ending with a sense of fulfilling part of this promise.
In challenging times, a company needs to keep the belief of the employees in the big future ahead of the company.
A way to do that is for them to see their interests been enhanced by continuing to remain in the company.
I hope to continue doing this as we all strive to build a bigger business.
Leading my team is one of my core ministry responsibilities. It may not be a Christian organization but it can be run based on Christian principles that serve people well and honor God.
I aim for this every day.
My next target is to find a way to fund the small companies that have done business with us.
I hope I get them out of the woods in September.
It’s my ministry at work.
2-Parenting - A Bigger Task: I was discussing with my wife some of the changes that the 21st has introduced to parenting.
When we were growing up, we had relatives who lived with us.
Let’s forget for a moment some of the scattered horror stories of relatives living with families.
Most of us learned how to respect our parents by watching relatives that lived with us do so.
We discovered how we were to respond to instructions from older folks by watching these relatives respond to our parents.
As kids, we learned more by watching what others did rather than listening to what we were told to do.
The nuclear family of just parents and children now put the full responsibility of teaching values and culture to parents.
The task of parenting gets bigger by the day.
I pray to God that I do a good job with my kids.
And raise them to be people that God will be proud of.
Postscript
May you find grace to win in every situation that life throws at you. And may your victory inspire others to trust God more. Amen
