Hi there ,
A quick 1-minute read!
Greetings from the Big Apple!
This week finds me in New York City, catching up with an old university friend (we've known each other since we were 19!) and soaking up the vibrant energy of this incredible city.
But it's not all play and no work!
This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting with a disruptive player in the CRM/SaaS market. This fantastic company of 32 people, which I've partnered with in the UK since pre-Covid, has been inspiring.
Their successful expansion into the US market proves that anything is possible with the right team and a bold vision.
Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a Broadway show; this time, it was Hamilton (for the tenth time ... fourth in Manhattan!).
Yes, I'm officially obsessed.
But hey, who can resist the infectious energy, the incredible storytelling, and the sheer brilliance of Lin-Manuel Miranda's creation?
Seeing the show again sparked some fresh insights that are incredibly relevant to hiring in 2025.
Here are a few "Hamilton-inspired" takeaways:
- Rise Up: Like Alexander Hamilton, don't be afraid to take risks and defy expectations when building your team. Look for those "scrappy and hungry" individuals who are eager to make their mark.
- Write Your Own Story: Craft a compelling employer brand that showcases your unique values and culture. Attract candidates who are excited to be part of your narrative.
- Non-Stop Growth: Invest in your team's development and create opportunities for continuous learning. Empower your employees to "rise up" and reach their full potential.
- The Room Where It Happens: Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and heard. Create a space where your team can make history together.
Whether you're a seasoned business leader or just starting out, these principles can help you build a team that's as revolutionary as Hamilton himself.
Happy Hiring!
Helen
P.S. Don't 'Wait For It'! Let's build a team that's as talented and dynamic as the cast of Hamilton. Reply to this email or book a strategy meeting here.
P.P.S. If you've yet to enjoy Hamilton on Disney+, I highly recommend it. Better yet, catch it on the West End, Broadway, or one of the touring shows. It's a must-see for anyone interested in US history and/or highly innovative theatre productions.
