Hey listen,
I want to share something my billionaire mentor taught me a long time ago...
"Successful people are too busy doing what other people are still talking about."
If you're a client or a friend, you might have heard me say that before...
Because it's true in business, in health, in relationships — in everything. Its a rule of SUCCESS.
What's it mean?
Well, while others are waiting for the right time, the right mood, or the right circumstances, such as the right market environment, the right bank account balance or the recession to be over… Successful people are already making moves. They do it. They adjust. They pivot. They commit — and then figure it out.
Just this week, I had to do that myself. (Trust me, I didn't want to.)
I realized a conference I planned for months to attend in Germany — which I thought was next weekend — is actually happening this weekend. They changed the dates a few weeks ago and didn't notify me. And sure I could have complained but what good would that do?
So immediately, I was faced with an important question... "To go or not to go?"
Going meant rearranging my travel, shifting appointments, moving plans around or just waiting until its offered again in 2 months.
Was it convenient? Nope.
Did I want to do it? Nope.
Would it have been more comfortable to just wait 'til next time'? Yes.
But will it be worth it if I do? Absolutely.
When you’re committed to growth, you don’t let details derail you. You adapt and keep moving forward. I had to change so many plans. And yes it meant lost money, but it also meant I would gain what I wanted sooner, rather than later. (Time is never on our side is it?)
I am currently in Palermo, Sicily and have to go to change to Frankfurt, Germany early.
- I lost money on the initial flight plan I already booked…
- I had to change my current local Palermo lodging (Thankfully I didn't pay for it all yet.)
- I had to make a new flight booking on such short notice (2 days!)
- I had to refund / cancel the Air Bnb booking for Germany (Thankfully, I got that $ back because it was far away enough that I got the 100% refund.)
- I had to book a new Frankfurt, Hotel in Germany. (I booked the same one where the event is being held. It was a higher cost than the Air Bnb but it has a gym and will save me a lot of time and energy.)
- I lost money on the gym I booked here in Palermo for the month as well
- I will lose on the groceries this week here in Palermo… (I'll give them away.)
- I get the benefit of the leads and people I will meet sooner
- I get the mindset and content and energetic upgrades faster.
- I get to shift my reality faster into who I am and what I want.
- I get to review the content again if I like the next time they offer it in August.
It didn't make sense in my head. But I checked with my gut a few times... I decided to go with my gut and do it… I went with my intuition and trusted it. Even though my left, logical brain was saying, "but you'll lose so much and you could always do the conference later!"
I am glad I am doing it.... I feel I am embodying that key axiom, I mentioned, ‘successful people are too busy doing what other people are still talking about.’
And besides, “success makes sacrifices” doesn't it?
