Scent, Colour, Textures - Creating a Calming Home

Hi there,
In this weeks email, I am touching on ways to create a haven in your home. Having a calmer home is like a soft landing for your developing self care practises.
Life often feels hectic, busy, like we are cramming three things too many into every day. Our home can be a calming and welcoming space, a space in which to reset and relax. You can increase these vibes in your home through the use of different scents, colours and textures.
Lets start with calming scents. Lavender is a very well known calming scent. You can use lavender oil in a diffuser, pick fresh sprigs of lavender to have in your home or crush dried lavender and leave it in a small bowl. Other scents known for their relaxation properties include jasmine, sandalwood and bergamot.
Choosing colours for your home - such as wall paint, soft furnishings and decor pieces - can set the tone of the space. Greens and blues are often considered calming, as are neutral tones. Even yellows and pinks can be calming if you choose soft or pastel versions of them.
Textures can also be welcoming or harsh. Imagine walking in and seeing a plush couch, with a cozy and soft blanket draped across it vs walking in and seeing a metal bench and a concrete floor. Brings quite a different feel doesn't it?
You may not want to revamp your entire home, but you can use small things like an oil diffuser, some different cushion covers or adding a snuggly blanket to your living room to create a sense of calm and cosiness.
