How Seasonal Shifts Affect Energy, Mood and Wellbeing

Hey there Mama,

Where I live in Australia, we are slowly drifting towards winter. Temperatures are gradually dropping, the days are getting shorter and getting up early means waking before dawn.

Winter can be a time for introspection and reflection. A time to "bunker down" and hibernate from the cold. Shifting seasons have a definite impact on our lives, how we feel, what we want to do... Have you noticed this in your own life?

While we may not feel like being active or getting outside in the colder months, mood boosting movement is still a vitally important part of our wellbeing.

Keep checking in with yourself over the winter months to make sure you are keeping active. If you really don't enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors in winter, consider doing something inside - dancing, gym classes, weights, yoga, pilates... There are many ways to keep our body active, which in turn boosts our mood, without being exposed to the elements.

For those of you in the northern half of our beautiful planet, enjoy the shift into warmth and sunshine as you move towards summer. Enjoy the summer vibes, the increase in social gatherings and spending more time outside. Do look after yourself though - remember sunscreen, hats and sunglasses to protect you from getting too much sun exposure or getting sun burnt.

Wherever you are Mama, be conscious of moving your body in ways you enjoy. Keeping active is a great way to reconnect with yourself while boosting you physical and mental wellbeing.

Until next time!

Michelle
