You don't have to like golf.
You don't have to follow it.
But you can get something from the next 1 minute or so.
It is nearly 1am and I have been glued to the TV all evening (well, every evening since last Thursday!)
Watching Rory McIlroy chase that elusive Masters victory.
And the Career Grand Slam.
The tension was palpable.
The pressure has been immense.
It reminded me of something crucial:
Resilience.
What is his story?
Rory's an extraordinary talent.
But the Masters has been a major hurdle.
The weight of expectation.
The pressure to achieve the Grand Slam (which only five others have ever done, and he's now the first European to do so!)
It's enough to make anyone crack.
But what stood out?
His unwavering commitment.
Even with setbacks, especially during today's final round.
Even under pressure.
A playoff was needed with another of my favourites, Justin Rose.
Rory stuck to his game.
Focused on his mission.
Pushed forward.
A powerful lesson for us business owners.
We face our own "Masters" every day.
Obstacles. Setbacks. Pressure.
It's stressful.
It's easy to get discouraged.
But like Rory, we need resilience.
We need to:
- Stay true to our vision.
- Embrace the pressure.
- Persevere through setbacks.
- Focus on the long game.
Push through the stress.
Stay aligned with our "why."
Have the grit to keep going.
Until we "win."
Whatever that looks like.
So, let's take a page from Rory's playbook.
And cultivate the resilience we need.
To conquer our challenges.
And achieve our business goals.
