Your Q2 roster problem

Howdy ,

The game is afoot. Q2 is here.

Most leaders will start with the numbers this week.

Revenue. Execution. Deadlines. Delivery.

That matters. But results are not driven by numbers alone.

They are driven by people and process.

And while we spend a lot of time refining process…strategy, plans, dashboards, operating rhythms…process only works as well as the people running it.

That is where leadership gets uncomfortable.

Because process is technical. People decisions are emotional.

It is easier to tweak a plan than to sit down with someone and admit the truth:

They are in the wrong role. They are no longer enough for what the team needs. Or they should have been moved up long ago and you have delayed it.

That conversation is hard. Avoiding it can feel humane.

But it is not kindness. It is a tax paid by the whole team.

Every day the wrong person stays in the wrong seat, the right people carry more than they should. They see it. And they are waiting to see whether you see it too.

So before you review your Q2 numbers, review your roster.

Ask yourself:

→ Who is in a role they have outgrown…or never fully grown into?

→ Who is performing below the level the team now needs…and has been for too long?

→ Who is ready for a bigger assignment, but you still have not moved?

That third question matters just as much as the first two. Getting people right is not only about removing. It is also about placing.

Do the people work first. Process improves after that. Results follow.

One question before you dive into your Q2 plan:

What is the people decision you have been sitting on the longest…and what is actually stopping you?

Hit reply. I read every response.

Keep winning at work and in life,
