He Didn't Lecture. He Just Lived.

Howdy ,

Yesterday was my dad’s birthday.

No, it was not a big party.

I decided to celebrate him by publishing a short book on some of the lessons I learned from him.

A short book titled, “27 Lessons I Learned from my Dad”

The lessons come from different stories that I saw my dad live out. I put the stories in the book.

Here are the 27 lessons:

01. Hard work is the foundation for wealth

02. Don't be afraid to take risks and step out to pursue your big plans

03. Quality is your constant source of recognition

04. Don't chase honour, let your reputation bring it to you

05. Don't delay in making the hard decision

06. Make time to be with your family

07. Invest in your children

08. Make coming home something your family looks forward to

09. Build friendships for a lifetime

10. Build a community around you

11. Make work a place the people that work with you enjoy coming to

12. Treat everyone the same, regardless of who they are to you

13. Be fully present with the people you are with

14. Make it easy for the people that work with you

15. Be generous to help those you can within your capacity

16. Your family history is part of your story. Learn it.

17. Don't forget Nature

18. Serve your community, not yourself

19. Capture memories

20. Appreciate simple gifts from anyone

21. Avoid the distraction of how everyone else is doing their thing and do your thing in a way that honours your values

22. Make time to enjoy life

23. Serve God not an organisation

24. Don't be afraid to plan for the worst. It may not happen.

25. Never forget your parents

26. Don't be the rich man amongst poor men — instead make the poor men rich

27. Be willing to make sacrifices for the good of the people you care for

Twenty-seven lessons from one man's life.

Not a lecture. Not a theory. Just a life, lived in front of his children.

If you'd like to read the stories behind these lessons, the book is here

Happy birthday, Dad.
