📘 Hard Conversations: Talking with Kids About TPR

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A Class for Foster & Adoptive Parents

Talking to a child or teen about the termination of parental rights (TPR) is one of the most delicate, emotional, and spiritually weighty moments in foster care. This class is here to help.

Designed for foster parents, caregivers, and child-serving professionals, this trauma-informed course will equip you to approach these conversations with wisdom, clarity, and compassion.

✨ What You’ll Learn:

🔹 How children process TPR at different ages

🔹 When—and how—to begin the conversation

🔹 What language is both truthful and gentle

🔹 How to handle loyalty conflicts and grief

🔹 How to offer hope without dismissing pain

🔹 How to partner with the case team for support

🔹 How to integrate faith in a respectful and healing way

We’ll also discuss how to create emotional safety, what to do when a child avoids the topic, and how to respond with grace—even when emotions run high.

📚 Includes real-life scenarios, age-appropriate insights, and interactive, quiz-based learning to help you walk through this hard moment with confidence.
