Izzy's emergency surgery revealed something both ridiculous and heartbreaking inside her belly: bits of toys, sticks, leaves, and fabric. You know, because... dogs.

Bits of plastic, fabric, sticks and leaves that were blocking Izzy's intestines.

After five days without eating, Izzy is still weak and recovering from the surgical intervention. Imagine how you'd feel after having sticks and leaves removed from your intestines. That's where Izzy is right now, rebuilding her strength one day at a time.

But here's what we need to talk about:

Izzy's emergency surgery cost $1,565. We've already raised half of it yesterday (thank you so much!), but the vet is waiting on the other half. And this is where the real problem becomes clear.

Dogs don't send advance notice when they eat someone's t-shirt.

When a dog like Izzy arrives in crisis, we don't have time to think. We can't pause and fundraise while her life hangs in the balance (but we try!) We move forward and hope to cover the bill later. We either say "yes" to emergency surgery and ask our community to help us pay, or we risk putting their lives in danger.
