In a recent Newsletter post, Finanztip (a really amazing resource when it comes to all things money, though completely auf Deutsch) enlightened, once again, how expensive it can be to trust big banks with your hard earned money, specially since they will always try to convince you how good their actively managed funds.
Just for you to have an idea, these are the fees that good old Sparkasse charges:
Verwaltungsgebühr - Management fee: 1,45% (per year)
Ausgabeaufschlag - Issue surcharge: 3,75% on every purchase
Verwahrgebühr - Maintenance Fee: 0,045% per quarter
I will leave detailed calculations of how much that would amount to at the end of your investment period for another occasion. But anything that taxes me 3 times is an absolute NO GO!!
This goes to show how vital it is to be aware and knowledgeable of other financial products, more specifically ETFs, that do not break the bank (only the clerk's posture if you mention them in a consultation @ Sparkasse :-D). Plus they return, more often than not, better results!
