We are Our Brothers and Sisters Keeper - NWA Tornado Relief Efforts
May 27, 2024 12:20 pm
Dear NWA Family and Friends,
We are currently out of the country on a much-needed family vacation, but we were devastated to hear the news about the tornadoes that touched down in Northwest Arkansas. Like many of you, we have friends directly impacted by this event. We woke up early this morning to check social media feeds and watch the news from home.
Wow.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have experienced a loss of life. If anyone needs to share news or information to assist in relief efforts, please let us know. Our good friends at the NWA Daily newsletter shared a resource list with us, which we want to pass along to you. We will also be gathering posts from social media to share helpful information. If you need anything specific, please feel free to text us at 479-358-7581. We will do our best to assist or connect you with someone who can help.
As we spend today reflecting on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, let's also remember our neighbors who may be going through challenging times. We are #NWAStrong.
Sincerely,
Randy Wilburn

Where Can People Go For Food and Shelter?
Many schools, churches, and community centers that still have power have opened their doors to the community. A few that we found info about online include:
- Rogers High School will provide free breakfast and lunch for families in need today at 8a and 12p.
- The Metroplex Event Center in Rogers is offering daytime shelter, food, and beverages for those in need of a place to cool off and recharge.
- The Community Table, a food pantry in Bentonville, will open tomorrow from 10a-2p, providing groceries and hot meals.
- Tyson Foods is serving hot meals to those impacted by tornados in the Walmart parking lot on Walnut St in Rogers from 11a-5p.
- NWA Board of Realtors in Lowell will open today from 10a-5p for those in need of a place to charge devices, cool off, and find water and snacks. They’re also collecting donations for those affected.
What Can I Do To Help?
Rogers Police Department has encouraged the public to avoid driving around in areas that might block emergency response teams as they address broken gas, water, and power lines. Instead, they’ve encouraged to “start local.” Check on neighbors, especially the elderly, and remove smaller debris to allow emergency response teams to address “the big stuff.”
A few organized response efforts you can take part in include:
- Sheep Dog Impact Assistance will meet at the Center for Nonprofits in Rogers today at 8:15a. If you are a Veteran, First Responder, Military Personnel, or just someone who would like to volunteer, register HERE. Can’t deploy but want to help? Donate HERE.
- Storm Damage Cleanup crews are being organized by local nonprofit Nova Terra to help remove fallen trees. If you’d like to volunteer, sign up HERE. Need assistance? Fill out this Google Form.
- Recovery Organizations Oasis and P.E.A.R.L. are joining forces to provide shelter and resources for men and women in recovery. Donate HERE.
- American Red Cross of Arkansas is accepting monetary donations and hosting volunteer opportunities. Learn more HERE.
