ChatGPT Outperforms Doctors In Answering Patient Messages, Study Shows
A new study found that ChatGPT might actually be quite successful in providing high-quality answers to patient questions during an era in which doctors and nurses are too busy to do so.
The research evaluated two sets of answers to patient inquiries — one written by physicians, the other by ChatGPT.
A panel of healthcare professionals determined that ChatGPT’s answers were significantly more detailed and empathetic.
Alzheimer’s patients may wait years to get treated with new drugs, putting them at risk of more severe disease
🤔 As the population ages, the US may not have enough dementia specialists or testing capacity to keep up. This could mean long wait times for new Alzheimer's treatments 😔 Studies say patients might wait anywhere from 18 months to 4 years to get diagnosed and treated. That's a lot of time without proper care, which could lead to a decline in memory and independence 😢
But don't worry, there's hope on the horizon, saving today with HSAPAY will help pay for Innovations that are coming that could make diagnosing and treating Alzheimer's much easier 🙌

Hedge funds boost net short positions in 10-year futures to a record
🌟📈 Hedge funds seem to be feeling pretty optimistic about the likelihood of a recession, as they reportedly have shorted the 10-year U.S. Treasury futures. Recent data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission showed their net short positions hitting a record high of 1.29 million contracts, marking the fifth consecutive week for increases. Some hedge funds might be betting that inflation will be stickier than anticipated, but we'll have to wait for the monthly update on the Fed's preferred inflation gauge to get a better idea. There's also U.S. GDP data on the horizon, and while swap markets are indicating a 25-bps hike next month, the possibility of another hike in June remains on the table (🤔).
First Republic Bank (FRC) collapse is underway as FDIC seeks rescue
According to Bloomberg, the FDIC has reached out to some of the biggest banks to try and buy the company. JP Morgan, Bank of America, US Bancorp, and PNC Financial are among the banks that have been asked to show interest.
The FDIC has narrowed down the list to a few banks and is hoping to conclude the transaction before the market opens on Monday! 🎉 😬 However, these banks are a bit hesitant about taking over First Republic. The company lost over $100 billion in deposits in the first quarter, and its shares have collapsed during the week. 😳
There are also concerns about potential losses after the merger. First Republic's balance sheet has billions of dollars in unrealized losses that the acquirer will need to cover. 😔
Newmont’s revenue missed estimates as gold prices surged
Newmont (NYSE: NEM) just released their financial results and it's a mixed bag 🤔. Despite gold prices reaching their all-time high, their revenue missed estimates by $21 million. However, their earnings per share of 40 cents did slightly better than expected 👍. The company mined 1.27 million ounces of gold and produced 288k gold equivalents of copper, silver, lead, and zinc. Newmont hopes to produce between 5.7 million and 6.3 million ounces of gold this year 🤞.
But wait, there's more! Their net income for the first quarter was $363 million and they ended the quarter with $2.7 billion in cash and $797 million in short-term deposits 💰💰.
Silver price outlook mixed even as Comex drained and global GDP diverges
Wow, did you know that investors are totally changing their minds about physical metals? 🤔💡 They're draining the Comex silver Exchange and opting for the real deal instead of just tradable contracts! 😱
It's all about securing that 💰💰💰 and they're willing to pay up to 10 times the value to do it!
Looks like the markets are in for a wild ride! 🎢📈💵🤑💸🚀
Will U.S. Growth Shocks Batter EM?
Flash estimate for US Q1 GDP growth weaker than expected 😞, raising questions about potential implications for emerging markets.
Mexico 🇲🇽 stands out as a major exporter to the US, but nearshoring could help shield the economy and the peso 💪.
On the bright side, there are signs of a China 🇨🇳 rebound, which could benefit several Asian economies 🌏📈.
Should you buy Amazon stock after its Q1 earnings report?
CFO Brian Olsavsky shared that Amazon Web Services' revenue growth this month was slower than Q1 by 500 basis points due to uncertain customer spending during the economic slowdown. The cloud segment's operating income also dropped 22% to $5.1 billion, missing analyst estimates.
However, 🐂 Mizuho analyst James Lee remained optimistic, projecting 10% growth for AWS with potential recovery by year-end. Meanwhile, AWS's revenue beat last year and Street estimates. For Q2, Amazon expects operating income between $2.0 billion and $5.5 billion. 💰
Here’s what Exxon CEO had to say on the company’s Q1 earnings
Exxon's oil & gas production soared by almost 300k barrels/day in Q1! 💰
CEO Darren Woods shared that they've slashed $7 billion in costs and have a top-notch investment portfolio. Their stock has risen close to 20% since mid-March, but unfortunately, crude and natural gas realizations dipped. 😔 However, Woods remains optimistic about the current oil price of $76, saying the industry can still thrive at this level.
Overall, Exxon's Q1 earnings were impressive, with a whopping $11.43 billion in profits and per-share earnings more than doubling to $2.79! 🤑 Despite a drop in revenue, their adjusted EPS came in higher than expected at $2.83. 🎉
The bullish case for natural gas prices in a world of net-zero transition
🌎 Natural gas prices ⬇️ lately due to about global demand. On Wednesday, gas was trading at $2.30, which is 23% 📉 since March's highest point and 76% 📉 from last year's peak.
The case for natural gas: Europe's demand for natural gas 📉 in Q4 of last year, but instead of freezing, they were able to replace Russian gas with American LNG. However, there's a shift to clean energy sources like 🌬️and ☀️, and countries like Germany are retiring their nuclear power sources. Also, hydropower sources are facing challenges.
What is carbon credit investing? An intro into what drives this novel asset class
🌍 Climate change is becoming a bigger issue every day as we keep putting our weight on the planet.
💸 Financial markets are feeling the effects too, with more focus on ESG investing and the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 being a huge deal. But, unfortunately, there have been some concerning developments recently. 😢
The energy market has been booming, with record-breaking profits for the top five oil companies. They made almost $200 billion in total, which is about $22.4 million every hour. This is all happening while there's a war going on in Ukraine. 😟
3 Reasons to Hold Resource Equities
💸 Inflation is still causing trouble, despite the Fed's efforts to fight it. 😞 It's not as bad as 40 years ago, but still higher than what the Fed wants. But don't worry, resource equities can help protect against rising prices!
Resource companies have learned from the past and are being smarter with their money. 🤑 They're not spending too much, paying off debts, and being careful with their risks. So let's all invest wisely and beat inflation! 🚀
Did you know that some resource equity companies might be cutting back on dividends this year? 😱
But don't worry - there's still some major 💰💰💰 to be made in the Energy and Materials sectors of the S&P Global 1200 Index. In fact, they have the highest estimated dividend yields of all the sectors!
😍 So, for those of you waiting to redeploy your capital, just chill out and keep your 💰 parked in resource equities. It's like getting paid to wait! 💸💸💸
