Never Take Advice from the Blue Checks

Aug 20, 2020 12:06 am

If you know anything about me, you know I loathe the blue checks on Twitter.

And they continue to prove me correct.

Look at this mess of advice one blue check had the nerve to publish on how to grow on Twitter:

  1. Write about what fascinates you. (Okay, this works)
  2. Post at least 1 tweet per day. (Isn't this common sense?)
  3. If it doesn’t provide insane value, don't post it. (If you're in the Mogul Summit, you know how much this rule irritates me and doesn't exactly point to anything useful)
  4. Always post your best idea right now. Don’t save it for later. (DO NOT do this!!!)
  5. Take 10+ min to edit each tweet and find the perfect word. (Ain't nobody got time for that!)

Number 4 is probably the most alarming. Twitter is the LAST place you want to post your best ideas. The best place to post your ideas is...wait...I can't tell you that. Game is to be told, not sold.

I've tried number 5 and I promise you it does not work. I've actually ruined really good tweets by overthinking. Take time to revise but you don't need 10 minutes to think over a tweet.

Anyway, I've updated "Dominate Twitter" again with the following, including other edits:

  • Massively increase engagement with a tiny tweak to your writing!
  • Maximize your engagement with a brilliant little hack I cooked up myself!

From now until 5 pm ET "Dominate Twitter" is 50% off.

Take advantage and thank me later!
