What Can You Do to Be Better in 2022?

Dec 13, 2021 11:31 pm

I was playing speed chess, live on my chess YouTube channel this Saturday, and my chess coach was watching.

Later that night, I reached out to coach to get his critique on my play. He told me he was proud because I was playing way above my level.

So, I asked, "What can I do to get better?"

And that's when he hit me with an epic Martin Luther King Jr. quote.

“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

He told me not to worry about adding another thing to my studies. I already have a chess book I have not finished. So, if I add another chess thing to my life then that would take away from me reading the chess book or doing puzzles.

Because I can't devote eight hours a day to chess like the professionals, he simply stated, "Do somesing (something)", in his Cuban accent.

As long as you're studying/practicing your field daily, whatever it may be, you will get better at it — it's literally a guarantee.

And that's the same advice I give my business students. If you have goals/dreams, work on them daily, even if only a little bit.

Those who don't do this will find that they are stuck in the same place next year that they are now.

It's like this quote from my interview with Donald Trump's homie, Pastor Scott...

"If you do what you always have done, you'll get what you've always got."

Anyway, if you haven't seen/listened to that candid and hilarious conversation, with personal behind-the-scenes Trump stories, Republican stories, and more, you're REALLY missing gold!

(And he took a few shots at prominent black conservatives)

Uh oh!
