The Big Argument About Books
Oct 13, 2020 6:16 am
It's not uncommon for people to argue about what's better...
Fiction or nonfiction.
For a while I was completely opposed to nonfiction. I thought it was for losers.
(If you don't follow the rule below it's still for losers)
Then I finally decided to sit down and read "1984" by George Orwell.
Now, I can no longer discount the benefit of reading fiction.
To be clear, I'm not trying to read fiction for fun. That just seems ghey and feminine. LOL
I prefer nonfiction because at least you're expanding your knowledge.
But now I've unlocked the power of fiction and the little that it's good for.
So, what's reading fiction good for?
DESCRIPTIVE WORDS.
The best fiction writers, like Paulo Coelho, can paint pictures in your mind with words.
The power is in the adjectives and the extended vocabulary that comes with becoming familiar with more words.
If you want to become a better sales copywriter, read a good fiction novel and pay attention to the words.
Thank me later.
