"I Quit!"

Jul 14, 2020 6:01 am

My 30 inch wide-screen monitor was staring at me, staring at 26 lines of code.

I'm tasked with creating an algorithm to run a set of calculations within a function, by adding only one line of code.

Then that thought hit my head, "I quit!"

At that dismal moment, I thought I was defeated.

But, I was able to recognize this thought for what it was; FEAR!

I've only been coding in this language (JS) for a few months, so it's impossible for me to be an expert already.

This is when I realized that I've hit my first real roadblock with coding.

And these roadblocks are actually milestones.

I choose to celebrate roadblocks because they are merely markers on the path of my journey and soon they will be behind me.

The only difference between a successful person and a miserable person is, the successful person doesn't quit.

That's also literally the difference between failed small business and successful small business. One goes out of business and one does not. Those who find a way to stay in business usually find their footing.

Much of success is also reliant upon experts.

Some founders can't get past their ego long enough to allow their experts to assist them. I know personally because I've seen many businesses fail which I could have saved.

Like my ex-client who had a $250k oil rig salary and wanted to launch a luxury travel service on the side.

I told the guy not to spend any money for marketing unless we agreed, since I was his marketing director, and he was already buying ads behind my back.

What do you think he did?

He spent ANOTHER $5k on an ad in a magazine that lives in the backseat pouches of private jets.

Then he asked me why it wasn't bringing in any sales...

You don't put $5k into print ads if you want an immediate return. Print ads are for brand recognition. It's something you do when you have excess in your marketing budget. It's a glamour thing!

Then came his next humongous screw up...

Can you believe that this guy paid $20k to a marketing agency and all he got in return was a website?

Can you believe he had the audacity to call me and complain about it?

He actually thought that some pretty & fancy website would make people buy! HA! The jokes are on him.

If you want to know what makes people buy, we'll discuss it at the Mogul Summit...
