3-Point Thursday #366

Aug 22, 2024 10:07 am

Hey,

Summer slowly being wrapped up! We're starting to look ahead to what's next; we're supporting the Jr NBA Mile on September 21st in Green Park, a chance to get active and run a mile as part of Vitality Wellness Festival run by London Marathon Events; shoot hoops, take photos and have a great day - if you've got an U15 (or many), or an U11 who wants to run with an adult - sign up for free now - entire teams can run with their coach too - should be a great day!

This week's 3-pointer:

🏀 Super League Basketball making movements

The new pro league has revealed its new logo and its 9-team line up, with Plymouth the only casualty from last season. Meanwhile, new owners have been found for both Manchester and London Lions as things continue to progress with the season fast approaching. Doing all they are doing is an unenviable task for anyone, and though I'm not a fan of the branding decisions, credit has to be given with the speed at which things are getting done to ensure we have a season.

🇬🇧 GB Women 1-1 in World Cup Pre-Qualifiers

GB are currently in Rwanda for their first games under new Head Coach Anna Montanana and bounced back after an abysmal opening performance against Argentina to hold off Lebanon in Game 2. They face hosts Rwanda tonight at 7pm - with a win locking up their spot in the semi-finals.

🧱 CWG legacy courts in Birmingham begin

Seventeen courts across Birmingham are being renovated as part of the Commonwealth Games Legacy, and the work has officially started. Much needed and great to see - check out this one at Burgess Park in South London that has just opened!

That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!

With gratitude,

Sam
