3-Point Thursday #349

Mar 21, 2024 12:36 pm

Hey,

Checking in from Clapham - just done a little interview on the courts with French outlet SKWEEK and now posted up in a coffee shop to get some work done before heading to CoLA this afternoon ahead of their EABL Final Four match up with Myerscough!

This week's 3-pointer:

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ March Madness tips off

March Madness is getting ready to officially tip off and the number of Brits representing in both the men's and the women's tournament is down this year, with a combined six across the board. The team with the biggest British contingent - Utah State are in action in the early hours of Saturday morning - make sure you're locked in!

πŸŽ“ BUCS season comes to a close

The culmination of the UK's equivalent of March Madness (and a very, very, scaled down version at that!) happened yesterday in Loughborough with the BUCS Championship Finals. UEL had Loughborough on the ropes but their experience came through to win by two and defend their title from last year, while American Elle Hendershot had one of the most ridiculous stat lines you'll see in a championship final to lead Durham to the women's crown.

🌟 Return of All-Star weekend

Team South took home the honours in both the men's and women's All-Star games (with Teddy Allen and Temi Fagbenle picking up MVP honours), and in the contests with Josh Sharma winning the dunk contest, and Matt Morgan the 3-point contest. It was the women's game that got most of the plaudits in a competitive affair, while the men's game seemed to be taking inspiration from the NBA All-Star game with zero defence being played - made for a very boring watch.

That wraps up another week, as always hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!

With gratitude,

Sam

P.S. Shout to Derby, who also won the KitKing Trophy on Saturday evening in Loughborough with a big win over Bradford.
