3-Point Thursday #222

Dec 31, 2020 3:44 pm

Hey,

Very good morning to ya!

This week's 3-pointer:

🥳 Bye, bye 2020!

It's mad to me that another year is in the books. The last 12 months have flown by, in large part due to lockdown - I think when you're in exactly the same environment every day and not making new memories, it's easy for it all to blur into one. 2020 been a rough one, has wiped out of a bunch of stuff on Hoopsfix's slate but we're now looking to 2021 and hoping to be back with a bang. Let's keep it positive - I'd be interested in hearing your British basketball related highlight of the year?

🎙 Podcast: Dzaflo Larkai

This conversation has been a long-time coming - have wanted to speak to Flo since he was still playing in Japan. A lot has changed since then - he retired ahead of last season and actually ended up as an international scout with the Milwaukee Bucks (!) - though his contract is currently on hold due to COVID. He brought the goods on this one - was super open, discussing some incredibly challenging things he has been through and it resulted in one of the better podcasts of the year. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

🇬🇧 Jeremy Sochan makes waves

Some may argue this should be a Poland flag emoji - it pains me every time we discuss Sochan that he could be a future GB star but we missed out in large part due to our incompetence. The Baylor-commit currently playing in Germany (but raised in the UK) cemented his status as one of the best international prospects in the Class of 2021 by impressing at the Euroleague adidas Next Generation Tournament and making the All-Star 5. What a talent - we will continue to claim him! lol.

That wraps up another drop, and the final newsletter of 2020 - gonna give myself a congratulatory pat on the back for hitting your inbox every week throughout the year without a miss!

As always, I am indebted to you for your support and appreciate you for opening and reading this email every week - may we continue to grow British basketball together through 2021. Thank you.

With gratitude,

Sam
