3-Point Thursday #351
Apr 04, 2024 2:31 pm
Hey,
Exhausted after a day trip to Istanbul yesterday for the Lions Women's EuroCup Finals Game 1, but we keep it moving!
This week's 3-pointer:
🏆 Lions Women suffer first loss in Game 1 of EuroCup Finals
It was an absolute mission of a trip for what amounted to about 18 hours in the country, but zero regrets in witnessing it! Lions struggled in the first half and finally woke up in the second to bring it back from 18 down to finish with a 7-point deficit going into Game 2 next Wednesday in London (make sure you buy your tickets here). Still very much in reach, and hopefully we will see people come out to support next week - especially with 777 having now seemingly confirmed their withdrawal from Europe next season in their first on the record comments on the subject. Off the floor in Istanbul it was incredible to see the venue - 3,200 seats, perfect size for many BBL clubs, complete with all the trimmings.
🦁 Lions Men's EuroCup run ends in Semi-Finals
Meanwhile, the men's EuroCup run ended in the semi-finals to a sweep at the hands of Paris. The Copper Box was rocking last Friday, but it wouldn't be enough to help get the Lions over the line as they went down 85-93 to bring to a close a historic season. Their focus will now be solely on the domestic league, with the Playoff title still up for grabs.
🤝 Volunteer with the Hoopsfix Foundation
As the summer fast approaches, we're looking to build out our volunteer database for the Foundation - if you're interested in helping us try to grow the game, please fill out the form above! It's not just physical support on events, but also administrative support across a variety of projects (e.g. we're trying to map out every single basketball court in London at the moment!) - if you have any type of expertise in any subject that you think might be of value, please don't hesitate to reach out!
That wraps up another drop, as always hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!
With gratitude,
Sam
P.S. Check out this nice feature on Lions Women's coach Stella Kaltsidou which Brad put together last week.
