3-Point Thursday #359

May 30, 2024 7:33 pm

Hey,

Feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders with the delivery of the Classic this weekend gone, feels good to get the 10th year under our belt! Now it's prep mode for the rest of the summer!

This week's 3-pointer:

💫 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic 2024 wrapped up

We had two competitive games (we were due them!), with Team White escaping Team Black in the U19 Women's game behind Yazmin Edwards' MVP performance, while Team Black had an improbable come from behind victory over Team White in the U19 Men's game behind Tyrese Lacey's incredible MVP outing. Grace Strickland became our first female 3-point winner, while Remy Udeh took the dunk contest crown. Still crazy to think it's been ten years and I'm glad we were able to pay tribute with the names of every player to have been selected over the decade written on the floor...meanwhile, you can look back over all the MVPs here, and our official recap vid that has literally just dropped!

💰 BBL engaging with new investors

While the league has stayed very quiet through recent weeks amidst all the growing controversy surrounding 45% (and London Lions') owners 777 Partners, it was quite a surprise to see Chairman Sir Rodney Walker going on record in The Times to reveal they are in advanced discussions with new investors, with 777's blessing. It's going to be a very interesting off-season.

🥪 BBF confirm London games, coined Subway Summer Slam

Following on from the announcement a couple of weeks ago that the BBF have brought on Subway as a new major partner - GB's first true commercial sponsor since the London 2012 Olympics - they have confirmed their games against South Sudan and Germany in July and with it, the moniker 'Subway Summer Slam' in the first activation of the partnership. Tickets are now available, which can be purchased here.

That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else,

With gratitude,

Sam
