3-Point Thursday #295

Sep 03, 2022 10:58 am

Good morning!

Saturday morning breathing time before starting a EuroBasket shift from 1pm until late tonight.

This week's 3-pointer:

🇬🇧 EuroBasket is in full swing

The 12-man roster is set, and the squad suffered a heavy opening defeat to Ukraine yesterday (highlights here if you missed it). Things don't get any easier as they look to bounce back against Croatia at 1:15pm today - astonishingly, or perhaps it shouldn't be - there is no broadcast deal in the UK, so your only place to watch it is Courtside1891 - Use code HOOPSF25 for a 25% discount on the annual pass!

🎨 Some basketball art

Myles Hesson has been unveiled on a wall mural in Birmingham following his hometown hero-heroics to win gold with England at the Commonwealth Games - love seeing this stuff; put our stars on a pedestal! Meanwhile, a Luol Deng piece of original artwork has been released as part of the NBA Creator Series in Europe by renowned British artist Reuben Dangoor. Love it. I'm a big believer in design and it would definitely be a full time role I would love to fill in the future at Hoopsfix.

🕸 Hoopsfix Discord Server continues to grow

You might remember earlier this year the talk of an online community for people working in off-court roles within British basketball, who are motivated to see it grow and are interested in the business/operations of the UK game. A few months later, we're about to hit 250 members, and a bunch of interesting conversations happening every week. If you're interested in joining, drop me a note!

That wraps up another week, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!

With gratitude,

Sam
