3-Point Thursday #211

Apr 06, 2023 6:21 pm

Hey,

Feeling good after a productive day; just started using an app called Session to use the pomodoro technique a little better and it has been awesome!

Before we get into this week's email, need to give you a heads up on the BBL Play-Off Finals coming up at the o2 Arena in London May 14. We're doing some work with the league to promote it over the coming weeks and will be there; it is the showpiece event of the competitive season and a big get together for British hoops - teams still to be decided with all to play for, but get it in early - click here now & get your tickets!

This week's 3-pointer:

πŸŽ™ Podcast: Caledonia Gladiators owner Steve Timoney

This might be the most impressive interview I've done with a 'non-basketball' person. I came away super optimistic and inspired by what Steve is doing with the Gladiators franchise and feel like it's not a stretch to say they could well end up being a powerhouse club in British basketball for many years to come! Have a listen and let me know what you think.

πŸ€ Hoopsfix Pro-Am set to return, seeking EOI

Hyped to be running back the Pro-Am summer league for the second consecutive year - as we are going through mid-June to mid-July and are currently seeking expressions of interest from teams and/or individual players. Judging by the interest we've had already, we expect it to be a step up in level on last year - where we had numerous GB internationals suiting up, and welcome people to attend as a spectators - more on that nearer the time!

πŸ‘Ÿ Ben Mockford announces international retirement

After almost a decade of competing at the elite level of senior men’s international basketball, Great Britain guard Ben Mockford has announced his national team retirement. 55 caps and nine years of service later, Mockford feels like the time is right as the next generation starts coming through.

Elsewhere, Lions have made it a double on the season with the league title in the BBL, Hoopin' n' Lootin' have made a first of its kinda deal with the BBL to stock team jerseys, and another talent heads overseas as 13 year old Ziah Francis signs a multi-year deal in Italy with Trento.

That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!

With gratitude,

Sam
