During these conflicted times, Honeysuckle is proud to join the hosting committee led by Joseph A. Bondy, Esq., with Professor Beverly I. Moran, Dr. Chanda Macias, PhD, Imani Dawson and our Editor-At-Large Jaime Lubin for our fundraiser on Monday, June 27th at Contento Restaurant (88 East 111th Street, East Harlem) for Gary Chambers Jr., who is running for US Senate in Louisiana. If elected, Mr. Chambers will be the first Black statesman from Louisiana since 1872. Gary Chambers Jr. lives in the Deep South, an area that needs more reform than ever. With environmental, reproductive, and animal rights all at stake, as well as other liberties, we feel it is time to turn on the heat in our support of disruptive politicians. The planet can’t take much more.

It’s imperative to elect leaders who share our values. Our future as a Nation depends on supporting candidates who can protect our freedoms. That's why we and our hosting committee support Gary Chambers Jr. in his Senate race for Louisiana, where he's challenging the seat held by entrenched Republican John Kennedy. Chambers is known for his blunt approach to civil rights and progressive issues. He supports cannabis legalization, which serves as a lynchpin for various freedoms (healthcare and reproductive rights, gun reform, prison reform, economic empowerment) that directly affect young voters and future generations. If not now, when? If not us, who?
