🇺🇸 A Living Books Approach To American History
May 16, 2026 3:01 pm
Hey, !
Teaching American history can become so much more meaningful when children experience it through stories, conversations, and living books instead of simply memorizing dates and facts.
That’s one reason I wanted to share about our experience using Sonlight for an American history unit study.

What I appreciate most is how the curriculum helps connect history to real people, real events, and bigger conversations about culture, character, and Christian faith. The living books approach makes learning feel engaging and memorable rather than dry or overwhelming.
Inside the post, I share:
- How we used Sonlight for American history
- What makes the curriculum unique
- Why living books work so well for family-style learning
- Ways it helped make history feel more meaningful in our homeschool
If you’ve been looking for a rich, literature-based approach to teaching American history, this may be a helpful option to explore.
