A valuable lesson our daughter needed

Hey, !

It's so wonderful to start the new year with an answered prayer!

Backstory, our daughter was cleaning and organizing her room about a month ago when her piggy bank mysteriously went missing. We just put money in it earlier in the day and when she was ready to put it back on her shelf, it was gone.

We searched and searched, ripped apart every corner of her room and it was nowhere to be found. We looked for it every day for about a week. I even looked in the garbage can and ripped open every single bag. Nothing was there. She was devastated and I was devastated for her because she had saved nearly $80 that she's earned.

Sadness began to overwhelm her, so I sat her down and said we needed to pray for God to help us find her money. So we prayed every single day about it. It seemed hopeless. Well, to be honest, we may have lost hope of ever finding it. Weeks went on with no signs of it but I still encouraged her to pray, even when hope looked dim.

As we were packing their room (we're moving again!) she was under her bunkbed getting toys out and low and behold, she reached under her bean bag filled with stuffed animals, and guess what she found?? HER MONEY!!!

It's so mind-boggling for me because both Steven and I pulled the bean bag from under the bed multiple times to look for it and we didn't see it once! I immediately began to scream and jump for joy, grabbed her, and started to dance happily! Then I said, "THANK YOU JESUS for answering her prayers!" She then began shouting "YAY! THANK YOU JESUS!"

Here she is with her found money!

This piggy bank, for some, may seem like a small, menial thing, but it was a big deal for her. We took it as a teaching opportunity not knowing what the outcome would be. If she never found the money, it teaches her to trust God. And if she did find the money, it still teaches her to trust God.

The valuable lesson she learned was that trusting God in the small things AND thing big things is so important. Sometimes our prayers are answered and sometimes they are not. Sometimes our prayers seem likes they are for naught. Either way, we rejoice in thanksgiving. But then there are those moments when God so clearly answers prayers. This was a beautiful moment for our daughter.

Honestly, this was a huge lesson for all our children. This has shown them, in a real tangible way, that God is good even when our prayers aren't answered right away or even at all. God knows the desires of our hearts, rather big or small. God cares about us and we daily need to learn to trust Him no matter the outcome.

So I say again, thank you Lord for this beautiful lesson in faith! It has encouraged me and I hope this encourages you and your children as well to trust God even if it seems menial.
