Nope! This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad (Psalm 118:24)!
Let's not focus on the dark ghouls and the goblins of a secular, pagan celebration. Every day is a gift from God, including today. Jesus is the light of the world and His light casts out darkness. Today, and every day let's give God the glory He deserves.
Today is Reformation Day in the protestant world and it is a sweet reminder of where we must put our faith, trust, and hope. We must remember not to put our hope in man or works but only in Jesus.
The reformers coined an incredible term that is outstanding for keeping our faith in Christ in perspective and in context. It's called The 5 Solas.
- Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone
-the Bible is the authority and teaches us what we are to know about God (2 Tim 3:16)
- Sola Fide - Faith Alone
-we are only saved by faith in Christ, not by works (Romans 3:28)
- Sola Gratia - Grace Alone
-salvation is a gift from God and we are saved by His grace (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- Solo Christo - In Christ Alone
-we are saved only through Christ and no one else (Acts 4:12)
- Soli Deo Gloria - To the Glory of God Alone
-God alone receives all the glory for everything (Romans 11:36)
