"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." - Henry David Thoreau
I remember reading Thoreau for the first time when I was a teenager. In case you're scratching your head, Thoreau wrote a book called Walden describing his time living simply and eating homegrown vegetables on the shores of Walden Pond in a cabin he built by himself. He was ahead of his time, predicting the survivalist movement, minimalism, and the tiny house craze.
It didn't take him long to want to get back to the joys of indoor plumbing, but he left us some wonderful philosophical gems in Walden that have stood the test of time. One of his best is the quote above.
It's too easy to forget that we are allowed to dream dreams and go after them. It's more comfortable to watch YouTube and eat microwave popcorn. We stop dreaming. We stultify our imaginations.
But I know you have something better in mind. You are better than that, though anyone can backslide from time to time!
Thanks for being on my list and sticking around even though I might occasionally forget to change my subject line and accidentally send the same email twice trying to fix my mistake. Sorry about that yesterday!
