How will you play outside this summer?
May 15, 2021 7:01 pm
We're finding our weekends are quickly filling up with of excellent events and adventures, and we hope the same for you and yours. As such, you should consider joining us this summer as we (safely) celebrate West Virginia's great outdoor adventure communities at several awesome events. First up on the list is the Dirty Double Gravel Grinder race and festival in June. Keep an eye out for future events in our next newsletter.
Dirty Double Gravel Grinder - June 5-6
Join us in Rowlesburg for this brand-new bike race event featuring a festival and two days of grueling gravel grinding across rugged routes in the Cheat River Watershed. We won't be grinding our gears, but we will be slangin' magazines and our new merch (check it out below) at the Highland Outdoors tent in Rowlesburg City Park. The festival portion of the show will feature live music, food trucks, vendors, and much more. If you haven't been, Rowlesburg is a cool little river town on the banks of the incredibly beautiful Cheat River and has so much potential. We're incredibly stoked for this event and the goodness it should bring to this gem of a community. This event will coincide with the Meet the Cheat River Float organized by Friends of the Cheat - we hope to see you on the rio on Sunday, June 6!

No, that's not photoshopped. And no, that brave soul doesn't have a rope. That's seasoned rock climber Amanda Smith showing her strength and resolve at Summersville Lake, one of the best places in the country for deep-water bouldering (climbing over water without ropes). Amanda has been active establishing new climbing routes in the region and we'll be covering her journey in a future issue. Photo by by Lex Rodgers.
