EXPO TALK TITLE: Upgrading Society's Communication
Jamie Joyce has a background in international sustainable development. As COO of an international NGO, she oversaw 30 projects in over 20 countries and helped bring clean water, energy, food, healthcare, and educational resources to the places in the world that needed it most.
She has since transitioned to tech, finding that the root of our inability to solve the most persistent challenges of humanity is partially in our communication. As one of the most powerful nations in the world struggles with polarization, misinformation, and weaponized narratives, Jamie works to enable across-the-aisle conversations through institutional tech which will help humanity get on the same page, and ultimately use our political power to create a more functional and responsible society. She works to collect and combine the claims and evidence from all sides to simulate what a collaborative communication between all points of view on social issues could look like.
In her work she’s discovered that there is an emergent structure to communication-based conflict, and hopes her work can help transition humanity to the next stage of intellectual and ideological evolution. Her projects include: Society Library, Internet Government, Great American Debate, and COVIDConvo. Learn more about Jamie here:
TALK TITLE AND DESCRIPTION
Upgrading Society's Communication
Social media has scaled a society's ability to communicate, and communication may never be the same for humanity. But how can we wield new technologies to scale social communication in a way that enables constructive, collaborative dialogue? Jamie’s talk is about how we can use technology to negotiate peace, make sure all voices are heard, and construct dialogue that brings us together at the societal scale. She’ll be discussing her projects: the Society Library and the Internet Government and how they may play a role in transitioning society to the next stage of ideological evolution.
