Show Me The Money! Grants & Funding - Practical Tips & Support
Revised: June 2025
Hello wonderful innovators,
The newsletters are so packed full of grants, funding, programmes, research & stuff that there's been difficulties in sending. So for the future we'll be providing a simple Google Drive download link.
What's in store this month, starting with Tech Nation. 1 in 3 of all UK unicorns have gone through a Tech Nation programme. On 9th June at London Tech Week, odds are you will see at least one more being born with their Tech Nation pitch competition. I will be there to watch! 60 of the most exciting early-stage tech startups will be pitching. Carolyn Dawson OBE, Chantelle Young, I salute you & your team.
WMCA/Business Growth West Midlands have relaunched a programme delivering business support in the community; LegacyCOE (Birmingham), Sweda (Birmingham), Access to Business (Wolverhampton), Highlife (Coventry) & of course iSE (Birmingham).
Global tech giants dominate Kantar’s 2025 BrandZ most valuable brands list. However, no British businesses make this year’s top 100, there were 2 in 2024.
The visionary Michael ‘Don’ Smith said this to me many years ago, ‘Employees won’t lose their jobs to AI, but they will lose their jobs to someone using AI’. Checkout these 11 separate free courses.
IGNITE 25 The 51% Club's conference. Two jam-packed days of talks, masterclasses, workshops, advice clinics, and networking.

Building on the success of last year's event, with five dedicated 'zones', where brilliant speakers will inspire, empower, and guide members in areas. Yours truly will also be on a panel. hibretOne has got 20 complimentary tickets to give away. All you need to do is send an email to info@hibretone.org & say why you think Tara Attfield-Tomes, or Maxine Laceby are so brilliant! Hint! checkout their LinkedIn profiles, or Maxine’s inspirational video: https://youtu.be/v6mdWhAdtUA
Managed to snag some complimentary tickets for Birmingham Black Business Show this month, organised by the brilliant Raphael Sofoluke. Dame Denise Lewis MBE is keynote. See event details for the comp code and a code from the geniuses at Aston University’s CREME. Sorry Raphael if were not meant to share so widely! By the wy, this show is not just for Black businesses, it’s for everyone, especially the many allies working to create change.

A much needed disabled fund to enhance the life of disabled, or seriously ill, young adults has just reopened, or as the wonderful Dr Mark Esho MBE, says, ‘different-abled’, not disabled. Mark was one of the first visionary’s to recognise at the beginning of the dot.com boom that websites would need to be hosted somewhere. The now gazillionaire Mark happens to be different-abled himself. Plus we’ve featured a bunch of other programmes, grants & research for different-abled.
These SMTM newsletters continue to grow, so the ‘super-nerd’ Nathan from First Class Legacy has created some useful AI prompts to help you access much quicker. Thank you Nathan. When the hibretOne platform launches, you register they’ll automatically be AI sorted for you. But until then…….

Top Tips for New Subscribers:
● If a grant or programme is not in your region, many funds listed are for the W Midlands. Google search the keywords within the grant, as the programme may be running in your area, under a different name.
● Use AI, or speed read till you find something of interest, as some of the grants have a short window for applications & you may miss out.
