Show Me The Money! Grants & Funding - Practical Tips & Support

Revised: November 2023

Hello wonderful people,

Another jam-packed issue this month. I’ll be delivering my fun & informative Show Me The Money presentation at the NatWest MoneyFest, in Birmingham 13 November. Guaranteed tricks, tips, contacts & organisations to get you funding. Honoured to say we’ve helped founders access over £7m in grants & Free Money support. Hope to add your venture to that number!

How about procurement as an alternative to grant finding? UK Government spends around £290bn annually on products and services & is making the process easier. Info on events to show you how to write bids & what organisations are open to SME’s from all backgrounds approaching them.

As part of the annual Initiative for Social Enterprise (i-SE) Social Economy Drive West Midlands, the community businesses can connect with suppliers purchasing products and services; from catering to cleaning services, coaching to mental health support, signage to training.

Social Investment Scotland have a new initiative ‘Buy Social Purchase Power’ matchmaking project, aims to help Scottish social enterprises pitch to large organisations & councils.

Big Up to Coventry Building Society! Who have opened up their supply chain to local businesses, especially diverse small businesses; women, Black Ethnic Minorities, LGBTQ+, disabled. I have never seen a financial institution open up their procurement channel to this extent. Massive appreciation to them. The Big5 banks want us to trust them with our business, now that trust should be reciprocated. C’mon HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Barclays, Santander follow the lead of Coventry Building Society.

I’ve discovered a great new procurement platform called Kaleida. If you’re a diverse founder wanting to speed up the procurement application process, signup to this platform. Well done Jason Roberts for making the lives of many so much easier & fairer.

Birmingham & Solihull Social Economy Consortium CIC (BSSEC) will be organising procurement training in the near future.

Business Finance Week: 6 - 10 November & Global Entrepreneurs Week: 13 – 17 November.

Tech Nation are back! Delivering a whole host of Tech focussed programmes to supercharge your startup.

Stay amazing, stay courageous
