Show Me The Money! Grants & Funding - Practical Tips & Support
Revised: February 2025
Hello wonderful people,
Apologies for the delay in sending this months newsletter out. We had a small tech problem to overcome.
On the subject of Free Money, I’ll be doing a Show Me The Money free workshop with BCU STEAMhouse in Solihull on 26 February. If you want funding tips & tricks to grow your business you have to come. I may also demo a few features of the new hibretOne platform. It will blow you away!

Free Money! Well nearly. Procurement Act comes into effect on 24 February 2025. If you’re an SME or social enterprise, learn about this & get onto one of the many free courses (Get Ready To Supply (GR2S), that will help you bid & write tenders so smaller enterprises can benefit from this act.
Green Economy Scheme is an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs and businesses to explore, learn, and connect within the green economy. All sessions delivered at Tyseley Energy Park (TEP), Birmingham. If you’ve not been to TEP you’re in for a treat.
Free AI online learning from Microsoft. Plus if you’re looking to get an app built.
Race Equality Week beginning in February, an initiative of the brilliant Javed Thomas, for organisations serious about tackling race inequality and diversity. You may already be using one of Javed’s ideas, ‘my name is…’ where on people’s LinkedIn accounts, names are spelt phonetically. You’ve got your work cutout Javed, as Meta, Wallmart, McDonalds, Microsoft to name but a few, adjust their business practices for an incoming Trump administration.
If you’ve recommended someone to this newsletter & they’re not receiving it, nudge them to check their junk folder, it may have snuck in there.
Stay amazing, stay courageous

How Japan pioneered global phenomenon entrepreneur pitch show!
Before Dragons’ Den in the UK became a global hit and America’s Shark Tank turned startup pitches into mainstream entertainment, there was Manē no Tora (Tiger of Money or Money Tigers). Launched in Japan in 2001 by Nippon TV and Sony Pictures Television, this groundbreaking show introduced the format of entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to a panel of angel investors.
Little did anyone know that Money Tigers would spark a global trend, influencing how high-growth entrepreneurship is perceived and celebrated around the world. In February 2024, the original backers announced that the 50th version of the franchise would launch in Bangladesh. And the 22nd season of Dragons’ Den premiers on the BBC on January 2.

Get Ready To Supply (GR2S)
Grants are great, but another good way to bring in cash is to procure to organisations with deep pockets.
A program from the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) that helps small and medium-sized businesses in East Birmingham and North Solihull find new contract opportunities. The program is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered in partnership with Newable, a business support specialist.
The Workshops and Procurement Clubs happened last month, but the opportunities to tender are still available.
