What's your deepest core longing?

This email and the next two contain my regular Tiny Untwistings. They also invite you to the free training I’m offering to help you write your book. If you don’t want to hear another word about that free training, just reply “No thanks” and you won’t get the next two emails from me. You can also stop at the asterisks below, and you won’t have to read about the offer.

Hi ~
The subject line of this email asks an important question. If you have trouble answering it, you're in good company.
I know how it would be answered by many evangelical theologians, though. That is, what your deepest core longing should be.
I believe they would let you know it should be to stop sinning.
They might put it a different way. Like, "to please God."
"To live the way God wants me to live."
"To be like Jesus."
But very often what they're really talking about there is to stop doing the wrong things (sin) and start doing the right things.
Because as the infamous mega-church leader CJ Mahaney said, we should "stay close to the doctrine of sin."
Lol.
(I talk more about this teaching of CJ's in Untwisting Scriptures book #4.)
I'd like to present an alternative core longing for you to consider.
To live in unhindered safe relationship with our Father God.
To know, deep in your heart, that as one who has come to God through the Lord Jesus Christ, you are already perfectly pleasing to Him.
To know that He is delighted to be with you and even to gently bring about the changes you want so much to see in your life.
To "be like Jesus" in the sense that He lived in unhindered close relationship with His Father.
Wouldn't it be amazing to turn our focus away from "sin" and toward "relationship" with a safe and loving Father?
And see that as we do, matters of sin get taken care of?
There may be some trauma to get past, there may be plenty of twisted Scriptures to untwist, but through our Lord Jesus Christ this absolutely is possible.
And as I like to say . . . if it sounds too good to be true, well, that's why it's called the gospel.

And , I want to add that if you're at a place of maturity and stability in your Christian life where you have wisdom to share, if you want to share it through a book, and especially if you have experienced trauma or plan to write something having to do with trauma . . .
As a trauma-informed Christian book coach (that's how I earn the income to support the ministry), I invite you to my free training on April 16th:
