The Content Diaries 💌 why I walked away from corporate life

Hi ,
Three years ago, becoming a mum changed everything I thought I knew about life — and business.
Before that, I measured success by how much I could do. How much I could juggle. How much I could push.
I wore busy like a badge of honour.
But motherhood stripped that away.
It forced me to slow down. To ask:
What actually matters?
What do I want my days to look like?
And what kind of business supports that life, not competes with it?
At first, I fought it. I tried to keep all the plates spinning: the job, the business, the home, the baby, the expectations.
But no one can sustain that.
Something always gives.
And for me, it was my energy. My joy. My creativity.
Without my creativity in my daily life, the anxiety creeps in.
It starts quietly... a low hum beneath the surface but before long, it takes over everything. My patience. My clarity. My confidence.
For years, I tried to push through it. I thought the answer was to work harder, do more, tick every box.
But what I’ve learned is that my creativity isn’t optional... it’s essential.
It’s the anchor that keeps me grounded and the outlet that calms my mind(and we all have one of these!). Maybe yours is a long run in the early morning or a session on the barbell that leaves you feeling energised.
When I’m not creating, I feel disconnected from myself, in a world of my own making (it's probably why I like reading fantasy books and watching fantasy series'). And when I build my business around that truth, when I give myself permission to design, write, and dream... everything else feels lighter.
More aligned. More me.
That’s when I realised:
Sustainable success doesn’t come from doing more.
It comes from designing a business that works with your real life, not against it.
Now, I run my business differently.
I protect my energy like a non-negotiable.
I say no to work that drains me, even if it’s “good money.”
I prioritise what moves the needle, not what keeps me busy.
And most importantly, I build in space for family, for rest, for thinking.
Because those quiet moments? That’s where the clarity comes.
So if you’ve been feeling stretched thin… questioning if it’s supposed to feel this hard…
I want you to know this:
You don’t need to prove yourself by carrying it all.
The real power move is building a business that honours the season you’re in. Not the one you used to be in.
Because motherhood doesn’t just change your life... it reshapes your definition of success and when you let that be true, everything starts to click.
Warmly,
