[HCH] My trick for resting better, journal jots, tidy life tips

Jan 14, 2021 4:32 am

Hello lovely ladies,

How are you sleeping at night?

I'm asking because rest is so very important for our health and well-being. The lack of sleep can also affect the way our body handles stress during the day.

Psalms 127:2 says,

"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep."

God gives us rest time. It's a wonderful gift. The older I get the more I appreciate bedtime. Ha! ha!

What I've been trying to do during anxious moments in order to rest better is to mentally re-direct my eyes back on the Lord.

I literally look up and tell God that I'm giving Him back these burdens to take care of. (Mentally picture yourself handing a big pile of burdens over to Him.)

Before going to sleep. I tell Him that I'm letting Him take charge of things while I sleep. (We should let God always be in charge! But, so many times we try to carry those concerns and mentally try to fix things until we become an anxious mess. And then, our mind is swirling instead of resting.)

Which brings me to the next thought... the importance of building our faith.

Faith is built by spending more time in God's Word. (So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. - Romans 10:17 kjv)

Please, oh please, understand the importance of starting your day off right!

Thought: You make or break your day each morning of your life.

Connect with our Heavenly Father in the mornings. Next, focus on your main priorities for the day...don't sit and worry!

Another thing to implement is memorizing God's Word on a daily basis. I'm currently memorizing Psalms 103. I tackle one new Bible verse each week.

Don't worry! It only takes about 5 minutes in the morning.

I first start off quoting from memory the references in the chapter that I've memorized so far. (It gets faster and faster each week.)

Next, I read the new Bible verse that I've added for the week. Then, I start trying to quote it from memory at least 3 times. That's it. It's okay to peek when you need help...because eventually you won't need to look anymore.

Don't worry if you don't have it down... just keep repeating the process each morning. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish! It doesn't matter if you think you are good at memorizing or not. God will give you the ability to memorize His Word.

It's a fact that we always seem to find time to do the things that really matter to us. Let's make this one of our priorities for 2021 -- to immerse ourselves into God's Word more.

Today's Tidy Up Your Life Tips:

Don't waste your day doing things of no value.

I think this is a good idea to do in order to see where your time is dwindling away...

Instead of writing out a "To-Do" list, try creating a "What I Did" list.

Keep track for a few days of everything you've done and where you've spent your time.  Now, ask yourself some of these questions...

What can you do to simplify some of those tedious tasks? (Group projects together? Ask children for help?)

What should you eliminate or do less of?

Did you complete your priorities?

What did you put off and why?

What would I like to see changed or improved?

Are the things I'm doing helping to accomplish some of my bigger goals?

How would I rate myself if I were an employer rating myself as an employee?

Sidenote: If you've made it this far in my newsletter, THANK YOU for taking the time to read to the end. :) What would are some topics you need help with or would like to see included in HCH newsletter? Please shoot me an email at rhondawhite@outlook.com
