[HCH] Here's Why You Should Keep Pressing On!

Sep 10, 2020 2:08 am

Hello lovely ladies,

Today is chilly weather! I'm wearing long sleeves and socks. Ha! I'm surely enjoying the change today. Perhaps fall in creeping in a bit early.

Tomorrow, I'm completing 10 weeks of growing in my silver (grey) hair. Sigh. It's a long process for sure when you're growing out hair dye....but it sure does feel wonderful to be free and natural. I LOVE the shiny silvers... just wishing to be past the process of growing it out because the dyed hair and natural aren't always the prettiest sight together. Ha! ha!

Change of subject...

I wrote some notes in my journal a couple of years ago that I hope will be an encouragement to you today to keep pressing on!

Florence Chadwick (July 4, 1952) (1st woman to ever swim the English Channel both ways) set out to swim the channel between Catalina Island and California coast.

There was a thick fog, water was frigid, rifles were fired several times to drive away sharks. (15 hours!) Then, she asked to be taken out of the water.

Her trainer tried to encourage her to continue. She was very close to land! But all she could see was the fog.

She was only ONE mile from land!!!

Two months later she turned her FAILURE into victory by setting a new speed record as she swam the channel.

(*Notes taken from Jeannie Churchill's article in Christian Womanhood Magazine)

My takeaway here from this story is that during rough times...or trials in life, it's easy to get discouraged when we can't really see the end in sight. We can always know; however, that God does see the end. With faith, we can journey on, if we just trust Him as our guide!

Jeremiah 29:11 kjv says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

Press on, my friend! Journey on with Jesus by your side!

7 Tidbits from my journal: (Use these ideas for your journal or ministry)

"The way I talk, treat people, and respond to others is mostly the result of the condition of my own heart. This means I must keep a soft heart for wanting to do right." "I must care about those around me more than I care about my own feelings." - Loretta Walker

"God determines who walks into your life. It's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go." - Christian Woman Magazine

"Don't ask God to GUIDE your steps if you are not willing to move your feet!" - CWM

"Sometimes the smallest STEP in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step!" - CWM

TRUTH has always been within your grasp! JESUS!! (John 14:6)

Nobody can be encouraged unless they want to be encouraged. Pray for that person to be willing!

QUESTION: What is more important right now? I want my daily steps to be directed by the Lord and not by my own heart. (*See Psalm 119:133)

Bible Verse of the Week:

"Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold." - Psalm 119:127 kjv

Side note: I'm afraid too many people have this the other way around....they love gold, wealth and wordly stuff more than God's Word and His commandments.

Today's Tidy Up Your Life Tips: 5 Tasks to Do Each Fall

When fall arrives, there are fewer daylight hours and it gets dark earlier in the day. This means you’re likely to do things indoors more often and earlier than in other seasons. Here’s a few things you can put on this upcoming season’s checklist…

Check Faucets & Hoses

Now is the time to make sure your hoses are empty of water and properly stored away. You’ll want to also put covers on the faucets to prevent them from freezing if there is any chance whatsoever that you’ll have a freeze. Remember, even people in Tucson Arizona get a freeze sometimes. Those can devastate the plumbing of a home and ruin your investment.

Check for Leaks

Now that spring is over you may have realized you have some leaks. You should have dealt with them right way but if you did not now is the time. If you see even what you think is one drop of water on your ceiling in any room even the garage, get a professional in to seal leaks and fix the problem before it gets worse.

Inspect for Termites

Schedule a termite inspection but always look yourself too. Study the signs of termite infestation so that you know what it looks like. The problem is that most houses with wood in them will get a termite infestation eventually in some areas of the country. The trick is to try to prevent it and fix it if it happens right away. Pay for termite insurance from a reputable company.

Check Roofing & Siding

This is also a good time to inspect your roof and siding. The best way to prevent costly issues is to find them before they become an issue. You can have loose roofing and siding without a problem, but eventually, water and debris getting into spots will become a big costly issue.

Clean Up Gardening Area & Leaves

The other thing to do is clean up gardening areas and leaves. Leaves attract critters, which want to stick around. It’s okay to put leaves around as natural mulch, but you don’t want them right by your house.

Doing these tasks every fall will help avoid problems, before they even pop up. This means that by being proactive, you’re keeping your mind clear and positive, rather than worrying about possible mishaps.
