[HCH] Each Good Gift is from God Above!

Jul 23, 2020 2:03 am

Hello lovely ladies,

I've had a pretty great week this week so far! How has yours been? I truly cannot believe that we are already over halfway through July. One great thing is that we are getting closer to fall and cooler weather. Many of you know by now that FALL is my favorite season -- and my hubby's, too! Yes, I know it's a long stretch yet until autumn is upon us, but one can dream, right? Ha! ha!

Gardening is one of the true fun parts of summer. Those homegrown tomatoes are THE BEST!!! Unfortunately, I've been doing a much smaller scale this year with patio tomato plants outside my back porch, and they are not kicking out tomatoes. In fact.... it's more like a turtle tomato plant... they must be related!!

On the bright side, I do believe each and every good gift is from God above! It's His way of giving us a hug and reminding us of His love.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." - James 1:17 kjv

Earlier this morning, I was wishing for a few more "homegrown" tomatoes to enjoy. Shortly after the noon hour, my sister-in-law sends me a quick text message.... "Need any tomatoes?"

Um... YES!!! Oh, YEEEESSSSS-ER-EEE!! LOL

It was a hug from God! She knows I often grow my own, but she is overloaded right now... and God put me on her mind to ask. :)

BIG SMILE! Thank you, Heavenly Father!

You know what, God can give YOU the desires of your heart! Stay faithful to Him! And rejoice in each of those little gifts, too! They are from God above!

If you've recently received a gift from God and want to share, please shoot me an email! I'd love to hear of your blessings!

7 Tidbits from my journal: (Use these ideas for your journal or ministry)

"God often delivers His BEST gifts to us through the back doors of our lives in unexpected ways with surprises inside the wrapping." - Pastor Don Ohm

"Understand that rules don't make us rebellious; they simply reveal the rebellion already in the heart." - Dr. Mike Rouse

"Humanism focuses on one's rights, but Biblically the focus should be on one's responsiblities." - Refreshing Daily in God's Word, July 2020

"Sometimes tears are the only words the LORD needs to hear from us." - Pastor Ken Stanley

FREEDOM is NOT being free "to" sin but free "from" sin.

3 Biblical things that make a nation strong. (1) Its relationship with Israel. (Gen. 12:1-3) (2) Its reverence for God (Psalm 33:12) (3) Its righteousness (Proverbs 14:34) - RDIGW, July 2020

QUESTION: Are you listening? "Often, it is not loud thunder, but the still small voice which delivers His weightier messages. Listen!" - Pastor Don Ohm

Bible Verse of the Week:

"I will sing unto the LORD, because He hath dealt bountifully with me." - Psalm 13:6 KJV

Feeling like you don't have a reason to sing? God deals bountifully with us, and so let's offer Him praise daily!

Today's Tidy Up Tips: Learn How to Fold for More Organization

Marie Kondo has set the world ablaze with her amazing folding method. She shows people on her popular show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, how to go through their stuff, organize it, and store it in the most stress-free way so that you can keep your home tidier.

I have only seen one or two parts of her show from YouTube videos, but you don't necessariy have to fold "her" way, rather, you need to find which way works best for your circumstances and needs.

Here's a few suggestions...

T-Shirts – You can fold T-shirts in a way that you can see the side of them, so you know which one it is. Then you can grab only the one that you want to wear without messing up the others. For some that struggle with neatly folding, you can find a flip folding mat for shirts on Amazon. *You can also roll them, which I love to do for traveling, which helps to keep wrinkles out, while saving space.

Underwear – A good way to fold underwear is to roll them. You can tuck the end inside to make a compact package that won't easily become undone. Put those rolls inside a special box inside your top drawer so that they have their own space.

*Side note: Although I do fold my hubby’s underwear, for my own underwear, I have a long narrow box inside my drawer… I simply stuff them all in this little box and they’re ready to go. It doesn’t look messy since they’re all tucked neatly inside and not laying all astray inside the drawer. This saves me time on folding.

Learn Army Folding – In the military people have to pack a lot of stuff in a small space, so they learn a special method of folding that doesn’t waste any space. You’ll roll up and tuck your socks and clothing in a way that makes it easy to dig through them without messing them up. You can hunt down tutorials on YouTube.

Minimize Bulk – Sweaters and jeans can be hard to put away, and most people choose to hang them due to this. However, if you’re short on hanging space, you need to learn how to fold in order to maximum space, while also preserving your clothes. The trick is to fold things in a way that gives each item the same shape, when you put them in the drawer. Depending on your needs and preferences, you may want to use the trick many travelers use - rolling the clothes. This is similar to the way some undergarments are rolled in their original purchase package.

Sheets – You can fold sheets in such a way that you can thumb through all the sheets in your cupboard without messing them up and causing everything to become disorganized. Again, invest time learning with a few tutorials on YouTube.

If you have an option to hang things up, that is usually a lot easier. This is especially true if you don’t want to be constantly ironing. Setting up hangers in the laundry room can help you get this done quickly and avoid wrinkles from setting in a laundry basket.

Lastly, don't forget my frequent saying, "Owning less is so much better than organizing more." Having less clothes can force you to not delay on laundry; therefore, you have less to fold and put away each week!
