[HCH] Handing Over Our Worries to God
Jul 16, 2020 2:16 am
Hello lovely ladies,
I've had a pretty good week so far. I got to babysit my baby nephew on Monday. He is the sweetest thing! He did keep me a bit busy and on my toes with those every-two-hour feedings, burps and diaper changes. Ha! ha!
Sometimes I miss those days when my sons were babies -- I could cuddle and love on them every single day. On the other hand, energy-wise... I sure am glad they are grown!! (Laughing a sigh of relief.)
Last Saturday I got myself worked up in a frenzy over a situation. I shall forgo the story because sometimes it's just simply too long to explain all the behind-the-scenes details. But, I will tell you, that sometimes I can get overwhelmed with worrisome situations.
I finally calmed myself down...especially since it was late and I needed some sleep. I kept saying, "You've got to give this over to the Lord." AND, I kept giving Him my worry, but I also kept grabbing it back from Him. LOL Ever do that?
Finally, I gave it to God again, and decided I needed to get busy and start praying for my friends and my family. When I started praying for others, finally, the peace and some answers came at last.... and I still have that peace and help from God this week.
Often getting our minds off of our own problems and praying about the concerns of others, can lift our own worries and bring us peace. Do try it sometime when you are caught up in that whirlwind of worries.
That night, I had a peace that He wasn't just God, He was "MY God" personally. You and I aren't just another number for God to take care of....we can have a personal relationship with Him and that's exactly what He wants from us!!
Well, I look forward to our weekly chats. I've surely enjoyed the comments on HCH blog, social media and your personal emails. It gives me a chance to get to know you a bit more. And for those who prefer to just silently read, no worries there either. I appreciate sincerely EACH ONE of YOU!!

7 Tidbits from my journal: (Use these ideas for your journal or ministry)
"Anything that robs me of my zeal, and anything that takes off my edge, is sin to me. I treat it like sin. I separate from it like sin because it is a weight to me." - John Wesley
Let God's Word be your final authority.
Forgiveness is more powerful than revenge.
"The most powerful rebuke is not a negative blast, but a positive model." Pastor Don Ohm
"Those who give generously, have much more than those that hoard." - Pastor Don Ohm
"An affectionate handwritten love note lingers longer in the memory than a fancy card with empty words." - Pastor Don Ohm
*QUESTION: Are you a faithful follower? Leaders are built first by proving that they can be a faithful follower.

Bible Verse of the Week:
"Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name." - Psalm 18:49 kjv
God gets the glory and is exalted when we give testimonies of praise about our Heavenly Father to the world, but I also think we benefit as well with a grateful heart.

Today's Tidy Up Tips: Ways to Fit More in Your Cupboards
Most cupboards are poorly designed unless you paid someone special to design yours. Whether you have lots of space or little, perhaps these tips will help you out…
Adjust Your Shelving – You don’t have to leave the shelves as they were when you moved in. Some cupboards have shelves with more holes so that you can readjust where the shelves go. Before making adjustments, know exactly “what will go where”, as well as why the adjustment is important and needed, so you only have to do it once.
*If you don’t have adjustable shelves, decide if manually cutting out and removing a shelf will be beneficial for putting in taller, bulky items.
Get Risers – Buying risers for your cupboards will assist with enabling you to put more stuff away in a more organized manner. A riser fits over things so you then essentially have another shelf to use.
Repurpose Office Supplies – File folders, magazine holders, and other office things can be repurposed for the kitchen and other rooms. For example, magazine holders can help separate items.
Use Extra Dish Racks – This works great if you have an extra dish set that is for special occasions. Stack the dishes up in the dish rack before putting it all away. Then you can just take it out and start using it quickly.
*Side note: I found a “corner plate shelf” that is perfect for holding a stack of plates in a corner inside my cupboard, while leaving plenty of storage room on the side. And it looks great – even earned a compliment from my oldest son when he came home for a visit. (grin)
Hook It & Hang It – When you’re running out of space in your cupboards remember that you don’t have to put everything in there. You can use hooks to hang other things, too. Pots and pans, cooking utensils, extra towels, and so forth can all be hung on a hook.
Consider How You Use It – Before you buy something, make sure it’s a need, rather than a want. Then, look at all the angles regarding the general product. Make sure the features you need are available. Also, research alternative products that are similar. Decide how you’ll use it before you determine where you’ll store it. If it’s going to be a seasonal item, store it with things used during the same season. If it’s a daily-use item, it needs to be easy to access and, in the area, where the task will be done.
Look for multi-use items - Less is often more when it comes to the kitchen and office area. Today, there are gadgets for everything under the sun, but a pair of office scissors will do the same exact job as an envelope knife opener. In the kitchen, we also have many items that can do double and triple duty to help us eliminate clutter and avoid needing extra storage space, so do take time to de-clutter and determine what could be eliminated.
REMEMBER: Owning less is so much better than organizing more!
