Together we can move mountains! We have been dreaming of launching the Haven Earth Youth Impact Fund and are thrilled to have two 19-year-old boys - Cole from California and Eliot from New York who reached out in the past week (actually their mamas did) to join us for our upcoming
Hemp Builder Training November 27th - December 11th.
And we have two spots left! So we thought this would be the perfect time to officially launch our tuition scholarship fund. The Youth Impact Fund is designed to support families in need to give them an opportunity to learn real skills in a supportive learning environment in Nature. As many of you know, both River and I have experienced the loss of a son in the past two years, and are passionate about providing opportunities for other families in need - financially and emotionally which we feel is even more important during these particularly challenging times. You can check out our Scholarship Fund here.
Eliot is 19 years old and searching for his way in life. He would very much like to have a place of his own but has no interest in traditional structures that society offers young people, such as going to college, getting a job, taking on a mortgage, etc. This past summer, in response to an airbnb home design contest he designed an off-grid hemp wizard tower with three storiesโthe first story for material needs, such as kitchen and bath, the second story for an essential oil distillery and apothecary, and the third floor for a library and observatory with a deck and a telescope. Eliot is a unique young man and is very eager to learn how to build with hemp. He is in need of practical skills he can use to create the life he wants so he can be his unique self in this world. He is not interested in college or a mortgage but has a dream to build his own tiny house and working with hemp (which is exactly what we will be building)!
Cole is also 19 years old from CA. โWhen my mom told me about this hemp build I was very excited because hemp has always been one of my favorite things. A while back I started a clothing line with the intent of keeping it as organic as possible. In order to achieve that I decided to use natural dyes and hemp as my main fabric because I believe it is the most sustainable and Earth friendly crop to grow to make essential items with, plus it is biodegradable and doesnโt contribute to any waste that may stay on the earth. The clothing I make is specifically made with hemp and natural dyes. I feel that hemp is the key to life and it has a potential to uplift humanity. I learned about hemp when I was in high school and my love and passion for it has grown ever since. If hemp hadnโt been banned in the 70s I feel like it would be the primary material for almost everything made. I also play drums and make art.โ
Both of these students are eager to learn skills that they can actually apply in their own lives. Both Cole + Eliot are covering the costs of flights and partial housing but will need support while they are here in our care. In addition to our intitial 2 scholarship spots, we have given multiple disounted tuitions plus 4 apprenticeships in our work exchange program assisting in the pre-build.
If you have the ability to contribute we would greatly appreciate the support.
Invest your dollars in real solutions & real people who are building our future.
If you can make it to our first Return to the Land event to celebrate our accomplishments on the last day of the training we would love to have you. Please RSVP no later than December 1st.
