Let me share my new approach to content creation… oh yeah, and a free Notion production hub that I built

Sup y'all, storytime.
While driving to Montreal for a conference, I had some time to reflect on my content. The six-hour drive gave me clarity: it's time for a change. I’m aiming for more cinematic, long-form, slow-burn content. I realized that my current approach needed a fresh perspective to keep things engaging and meaningful.
I’ve been using Notion for about three years. Watched tons of YouTube videos? Yes. Searched Reddit for specific problems? Absolutely. Read Notion documentation? You bet. Considered getting certified? Not really. It was just a fun rabbit hole. Then I took the Essentials Badge test and passed.
What did I learn? Learn for joy, dive deep, and don't worry about being "qualified." This taught me that exploring your passions without the pressure of formal qualifications can lead to significant growth and satisfaction. The badge was just a bonus that validated my hands-on experience.
To celebrate, here's a Notion Setup for Music Producers 🎉
Today, I’m excited to share how to create a music production system in Notion. This guide simplifies the process for newcomers, helping you organize your music production tasks. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by existing content, this guide is for you.
How does his work?
- Notion Home: Overview of today’s tasks.
- Client Database: Central hub for client information.
- Projects: Subsections for songs and tasks.
- Independent Databases: For production process text and portfolio, not visible to clients.
What does it do?
With Notion’s new Home feature, you can use features like quick navigation via 'Recently Visited Pages', track your schedules with 'Google Calendar Integration', and set up any databases you want.
When it comes to managing projects and tasks, it's simple: add songs and relevant info to 'Projects', and use a database for 'Tasks' with status, assignee, and due date fields. For example, if you're working on an EP project called "Visionary", you can create a project with sub-items for each song, set up tasks like onboarding and file collection, and include stuff like BPM, key, featured artists, and an inspiration playlist.
I kept it simple for tracking progress and client interaction, too. You can monitor the status of each project, set specific days for tasks and due dates, and even share specific project views with clients, while keeping other aspects private.
Another cool feature is having all your client information neatly organized—store important info, files, URLs, and notes.
Finally, you can customize locked databases like 'Music Production Process' and 'Portfolio' to fit your needs. The portfolio gives clients an overview of your work process
Download it and try it for yourself.
Until next time ✌️
