It’s everything I want a Christmas song to be, and I’m in awe of the work that @matandsavanna @haleyandmichaels and @mikestankiewicz did on this. Yeah, your string VSTs sound pretty good… But the way you’re using them sounds fake. Those disembodied violins, block chords, predictable movement, and flat legato articulation just take me out of the moment. If you work with a string player, they’ll be able to take your ideas and make them sound natural. 🎻

There’s something about the wrong chord at the end of this that makes it for me. @goodoldoska is amazing.

The production I got for this project was simple, and the goal was to build it up a bit using strings. I ended up with one of the most epic string sections I’ve ever recorded. I love it when I have this much space to work!

Want your next song to be great? Show up to work on it, and care about the details. Want to get noticed by a playlister? Show up, and care. I could go on, but it really is that simple. If you show up and care about the music that you’re making, people will show up, and care enough to stick around. 🎻

Yeah, I love sending off string arrangements to clients. But… The thing I actually love giving even more is getting to know you. Helping you understand your song. Taking that weight off your shoulders that you feel when you’re trying to get a song just right. Performing can often foster a feeling of deep connection. You’re in a room with your fans, sharing the experience of a song. But recording? That can be isolating. You, your thoughts, and the hard truth of your own work playing back at you. That’s why the intangibles are my favorite part of this work. You don’t have to face the creative process alone. Getting your songs recorded and out into the world should be a joyful experience. 🎻
