Mid-year website check in!

Hi,

Friends, we're already nearly at the halfway point for 2026!

Programs are running, calendars are full, and the website is doing its work in the background—or at least, we hope it is!

Here’s a simple question worth asking this month: when someone visits your website for the first time, do they know what to do next?

Not what you want them to notice, or what feels clever or well-crafted—but what’s actually clear to someone who has never been there before. Can they tell who you are within a few seconds? Is it obvious how to take a next step? Or do they have to pause, scroll, and think too hard?

A quick way to test this is to open your homepage on your phone. Mobile is where most first impressions happen. Is the navigation simple? Is there one clear, primary action—contact, sign up, learn more—rather than several competing options? Clarity almost always outperforms creativity here.

This doesn’t mean aggressive marketing or flashy buttons. Often the most effective next step is a gentle one: an invitation to get in touch, a short form, a clear path to learn more. Reducing friction and confusion builds trust.

Small bits of uncertainty add up over time. A cluttered menu, unclear headings, or too many calls to action can quietly cost you engagement—without ever feeling like a “problem.”

This is the kind of thing I keep an eye on through ongoing care: periodically reviewing sites with fresh eyes, simplifying where needed, and making sure the site continues to serve real people well as things change.

If you’re already on a care plan, this is part of that steady, behind-the-scenes work. And if you’re not, I’m always happy to take a quick look and offer a second set of eyes. Sometimes a few small adjustments make a surprisingly big difference.

As always, feel free to reach out if you have questions or want to talk through anything you’re noticing on your site. Just hit reply.

All the best,

Nathan
