a behind-the-scenes moment (from my studio)

Hi again,

I thought I’d share a short behind-the-scenes moment — something you wouldn’t see on Instagram.

When I begin a new piece, especially one in the Woman in the Bath series, I never start with the full scene in mind. It often begins with a single colour that won’t leave me alone. Sometimes it’s the way light sits on porcelain or slime; sometimes it’s the soft, blurred shape of a leg underwater. These tiny fragments slowly grow into a world I want to explore.

One of the most collected works in the series actually began as nothing more sitting in bathtub as a new mother and dealing with postpartum depression, while contemplating my life's path. The rest unfolded from there — the shadows, the quiet tension, the feeling of stepping into a moment you were never meant to witness.

If you’re curious, you can see some of the most-loved pieces here:

I hope these pieces connect with you in some way — even if it’s just a flicker of recognition or calm.

More soon,

Haejin
